Improved And Enlarged; Being A Collection Of Maps Of The World And Quarters, Their Principal Empires, Kingdoms. Philadelphia: Published By M. Carey. 1814.
The first atlas made in the United States to employ standard color on the maps; color was first employed as standard in this 1814 edition. The 1804 edition before this was essentially the same as the 1795 first edition. The preface is dated March 17th, 1814. This edition should probably be called the second edition even though Carey does not label it as such, because Carey calls the 1818 edition the third edition.
