New Mexico Marriage, Death, Birth Records

New Mexico's vital records are divided between a state-wide index for births and deaths and county clerks' offices where marriage records are filed. State-wide recording began in 1920, although there are some earlier death records which may be found as part of real estate transactions in some counties.

Access to the state-wide index is through the New Mexico Health and Environment Department, Health Services Division, Vital Statistics Office, 1190 St. Francis, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87503; telephone (505) 827-0121. They will accept phone requests and charge fees to MasterCard or Visa.

Requests for county records should go to the respective county clerk in which the event occurred.

Some documents are just too important to wait six weeks for. With VitalChek Express Certificate Service you won’t have to. Birth, Marriage, Divorce & Death Certificates Signed. Sealed. Delivered. Often in as few as three business days!
